b.2 Some maps of the farms lands 1946 in Bracken Ridge

These maps are from the Brisbane City Council, and identify the different streets of today with the area as it was in 1946.

So many of us lived on the old farms.  Pineapples, potatoes and pigs!!!!!

Bracken Ridge is 150 years old, and thanks to the efforts of Hon Luke Howarth in recognising the milestone.

In the words of  former Alderman Keith Murray, "I never knew all this at all.  My family were Scottish and I wonder if they ever lived in the area."

Keith was responsible for reshaping so much of the suburb's development.

There are of course others who prefer that this geni was not let out of the bottle!

If you are looking for a house to rent, use some caution and be very selective about where you choose to stay. Even as a renter you have certain rights and responsibilities that shouldn't be overlooked.
